Aidan listened to the Zen speak coming from the police officer and decided that this guy was not the typical cop. He was unlike anything that Aidan had ever encountered wearing the badge. It was refreshing, in all honesty. He wondered why it was this guy was like this. If he'd been like this his whole life, why join law enforcement? Why not become a guru or a councilor? Why not spend his life in Nepal, hiking and getting to know the planet? Or something. If he'd become like this after already wearing the badge, what had happened?
He was curious about all of it, but didn't know the guy from Adam, and didn't feel like it was appropriate to ask. Also, there was a little too much wallowing in self pity to think about those around him.
"It is not." Aidan agreed. "The best smelling place to find solace."
The vampire sat back against the bench, taking in a deep breath. His oversensative nose brought in the stench of the docks. The fish. The brine. The decay. Somehow it didn't offend him. He felt like this was where he belonged. He surely didn't deserve to be in the nicer areas of the City with all the good people.
