"Of course she will," he answered. He could expect no less. If this Evey could forgive, so would the other.
He felt the shift as she began to regain control of herself. The calm and peace remained, giving her the necessary breathing room to accomplish the task. His arms steadied around her, giving her some physical stability as well as the emotional support. He knew she would recover. This mess with Aidan had woken her up again as nothing else could have. Perhaps it was the only silver lining they could take away, but Peter was willing to accept it. He couldn't be grateful, not with the loss of so many lives, but there was relief in having his best friend back.
To love deeply gave one courage; to be loved gave strength. Where had he heard that? Lao Tzu? Evey Hammond had plenty of both. And he could give her enough of his love to help her regain her strength.
He could have moved them. Could have brought them someplace where she could sit and regroup. But Evey had to much of a fighter's soul - to make it "easier" on her would be coddling. Her defenses would hold better if they were built strong. So all he gave her was his support and his love. He had confidence that she could build up those walls again. He didn't need to supply them.
