With his hand in her hair and his arm around her, her expression turned peaceful. With the gathering darkness, it was more difficult to tell, but it was there.
"Does that mean you're mine, too?" she asked, knowing the answer already but wanting him to say it to her anyway. She knew she should be getting them out of the forest now, given that it was getting too dark to navigate safely out of the woods. She'd made that mistake more than once -- staying behind too long after the sun set -- but she hated to leave this place, this moment.
At least, before they got up and started back toward the City, she could have her answer. That would have to be enough.
