Eric had owned a cat before, and Macklyn was very glad of it. At least one of them knew what the hell they were doing with the poor animal. The fairy had brought it into this house with no knowledge of how to care for it, as an ill advised gift that he should have discussed before acting, and somehow it had all turned out.
Selina was right. Everything did seem to end in his favor somehow.
He pulled Eric along while he sought out the tiny white fluff, finding the kitten easily, as it played with a bit of forgotten paper. It seemed to not notice either man standing nearby. Macklyn took in all of it. The house, Eric, Mara, Bran, Saucer, it was only a little bit ago that they were dodging dinosaurs and worrying about keeping their secrets from a small and intimate group of people.
Most of which they had not seen upon arrival here.
But they were settled now, and the hardest of the difficulties was dealt with. Perhaps not in the most pleasing way, but over now. Nothing could change what had happened. Not even Macklyn with all the power he had could reverse the flow of time and alter events.
