The reference was lost on Evey. In her world, the film had never been made. She turned the handle of the door, and walked into --
-- the guest bathroom.
There was little room to maneuver; it wasn't as if this was a bedroom. She became very aware that she was a human intent on standing between a vampire and a blood supply that he'd worked very hard to keep. She wanted to close the door to keep him out, but that was just as ridiculous as any other idea that she had to keep herself safe in this situation. The only action she could be certain would protect her was to leave. And that was not happening. Not anytime soon.
"She loves you," Evey said, her eyes skimming places that could hide a backpack. "You said you'd get clean. And then you'd tell her. She's worth that, right?" If she couldn't protect herself, at least she'd remind Aidan why they were in this bathroom in the first place. It might be enough.
Evey tried under the sink, first. Then behind the shower curtain.
