"I don't know." He said honestly. Aidan tried to think of how he might track the witness down. "It's been almost four days. The City moves, I don't have any special tracking abilities."
Aidan would have killed to have a werewolf best friend right now. Josh would have been highly disappointed in him, but Josh knew the problems of being a monster. They'd been that together, they'd seen one another at their worst. They'd worked through all of it and come to the other side. Josh would have been able to track Aidan's particular scent to the alley he'd been in and then find the man from there. Aidan couldn't do that.
He took a bit of hope in the fact that they were reporting on the strip club, but there was no report about a mugger being eaten. Maybe the guy hadn't talked? Maybe the body had been found and had been attributed to the same random violence that had happened to three others on the streets?
Such luck was not usually given to him, but he was going to hope for it anyway.
Aidan's head rolled against the white paint until she was in his line of sight. "He'll know anyway." Aidan was sure of that. Peter would find out from Evey, or he would find out from visiting Aidan himself. He would read the vampire's emotions and come to comfort him and discover the truth. Maybe he would just see the images of the dead. But Peter would know. He had prepared for that.
"Why are you helping me, Evey?" He asked after a very long span of time listening to the reporter talk about the bloodbath. "You have every right to let this crash down on me. Let me get what I deserve for this."
