"No, it isn't. They have been here too long. Melody was given an apartment. The City had no intention to throw them away." Perhaps he'd been a little willful in his ignoring of the situation. Eric picked up Baba's hand, placing small kisses on each of her fingertips. He did not want to be without his wife.
It was likely that if he did get sent away, he would be sad and jealous. Perhaps for a very long time. But it was not a thing he was going to say to her. It felt wrong voicing it somehow.
"He will look after Pamela. I will look after his as well, if that is what happens. I will keep his John as my own son if he stays." Right now, Eric wished he had his Logan to help John along too. Among other reasons. He leaned into her hand, closing his eyes.
"My time with him has been pure vanity." Eric admitted, lightening the mood ever so slightly. It darkened again quickly. "I want you to be happy and safe. I feel that he is the best way to ensure both of those things. I want you to have everything you've grown used to. I want this castle and your cabin to be as they have become. I know that it is still a change, that he is not me, but he is the closest approximation that there will ever be. We share a thousand years of history. It is under a handful of years where we split. He is harsher, like I used to be before modern convenience and a digital world. But I believe in time he will settle again. He will always carry his time on that other planet, though."
Eric kissed her palm, turning his face into it while keeping his eyes on her. "What is it that you want, wife?"
