The contact wouldn't take the place of the kitten, but Eric would adjust to its presence and come to love it in time. He knew it. Cats were a favorite thing of his, and despite the shock of the ivory Persian he knew it would take time to warm up to it. But he would. And they would exist together in harmony.
"You definitely can. I'll take that excuse," Eric replied. He knew Macklyn deserved the best, any greatness that this City had to offer and yet he had chosen this place. It was charming, and far from regal. Eric would have resided anywhere. As long as Macklyn was happy. But he was glad the compromise had been made in efforts for this place. It belonged to them, and that was really what mattered. Cats, birds and all.
Eric's eyes closed at the nearness, savoring the contact. The wounds would take a while to disappear back into the depths of his heart but they didn't have to be apart for that to happen. He liked that they could move through things so fluidly, and put any events behind them. They had to remain strong together to survive eternity.
Finally, the hybrid pulled back only slightly, eyes opening to behold Macklyn. "When did you want to get together with the Other?" He was in no rush, but he didn't want to keep the phantom waiting, either.
