Matt nodded. "I'll take your lead, I'm sure you'll direct me down the right course." He wouldn't interrupt as Rose collected the check and left the amount appropriate for the waitress. He was sure she would be fair, despite what bias the waitress might feel against them.
Wether they started with dinner or finished with breakfast, he was going to let her take point. It was a dance they had done before, and though usually Matt took the lead he was willing to be fair and equal. She deserved that much at least.
When the boxes were brought, Matt reached forward, stole a couple of fries from Rose's plate, and then helped her usher the dinner into the containers. He put the styrofoam boxes into a bag, stood up and offered Rose his hand, "Ready?"
The apartment was about two blocks from the diner, walking distance that would close quickly with their determination for a plunge into the rest of the evening ahead.
