Matt offered Rose a grin, "Oh, please don't cancel your dates on my account. I would hate to be the reason you cease sowing all of your oats. A girl like you, I'm sure, has the guys lined up around the block." He offered her a wink. "I'll just be here waiting to sweep you away when you get back from your escapades."
Then Matt listened to Rose's laugh, the secret snort of glee cupped into her palms, "I'm sorry I missed it but I'm sure you deserved it." More light teasing. Oh she was so easy to be around. It didn't matter if one waitress thought both of them were out of their minds completely.
Offering Rose a thoughtful look, Matt considered what she asked him. Almost too seriously. "Hmm....I'll have to look at your accumulated vacation days..." Then he smirked at her and stabbed at his own food with the prongs of the fork he had picked up. "Of course you can have the day off."
At the table behind where they sat, an eager toddler emitted a high-pitched peal of a sound. It caused Matt to wince and drop his fork, along with the bite he'd managed to cut off, on to the floor. "Ow."
