And Rose thought that Matt shouldn't be defending the man he was working so hard for. She rolled her eyes when he said he'd be "just another minute." She'd heard that more than once in the last week. Punching her arms through the arms of the hot pink hoodie she'd brought with her to ward off the just-a-touch-of-chill in the evening air, she collapsed onto the couch and tossed one knee over the other, wiggling her foot impatiently.
"...subsection G, paragraph nine," the computer murmured softly, and Rose mouthed the too-familiar words from where she sat, "No entities may be prosecuted without full..." But even knowing the words from frequent use, she still found it too dull.
Truthfully, she was angry. Not because Matt was doing his job, because she knew that he had to and he didn't have a choice in that. But because it was quite possible that Edward Nigma might just go free thanks to Matt's work. That didn't sit well with her. She wondered what she could do to sabotage the proceedings, then wondered if that made her a bad person. She went still, thinking about that.
If the law was protecting someone that didn't deserve it, wasn't it the court's responsibility to find that out and correct it? But what if they didn't have the power to do it? Loopholes - that's what everyone called them, and loopholes covered over a multitude of sins. Rose rubbed her eyes, then looked up when the computer fell quiet and Matt let out a sigh. It really had been just a few minutes, which was surprising to her. She stood from the couch and headed around his desk. She needed to get him away from here - that's what she knew.
"Mr. Murdock," she said, tugging on his left hand. "I'd like to see you in my chambers immediately."
It was a ridiculously sexual statement, and Rose was safe making it because Matt was too good to take her up on the suggestion here in the office. If they ended up at her place or his, maybe then - and Rose grinned at the thought - but she didn't expect him to do anything but smile at the ridiculous demand.
And maybe get himself out of this chair and out of this office and out of this building.
