"I've never imagined I would be returned to the world I came from originally." Eric had given that up long ago. "The other world is what I speak of. That is my kingdom, and I'm sure that's where I will be sent."
He chose to ignore everything else she'd said before that. There were too many variables, and he had no control over any of it. There were other things he could focus on. Like what to do with the time he had here.
"I have been without regular feedings for a long time. Gorging myself once or twice isn't going to automatically correct the lack. You wouldn't expect a human to put on weight after only two meals if they've been starved for over a year." He looked at her. Was it her familiarity with the other Eric that made her so bold now?
"Perhaps it is better to discuss this with him first, it's truly the starting place for the discussions. Why would I speak to him about your fate? You are not a prize to be swapped between us. You should know how he feels about such things before you discuss them with me. What if he doesn't wish for me to have anything to do with you?" Eric shook his head a little, he wouldn't talk about that without the mirror at least being a part of the discussion. He knew if any version of him were willing to marry, the partner in question had to be very significant. After the first wife, wedding was not a throwaway idea.
He looked at the book. "Why would you want me to see that, if we can't know the outcome of all of this?"
