Her song didn't cease when she stepped into the water. The moist tile captured the sound and amplified it over the water. Being able to wash the dirt, grime and blood from her hair and face was a blessing. The warm water eased the aches and tenseness of her muscles, especially in her back, arms and shoulders. That jacket had put strain on her muscles and she hadn't noticed until now. But the water worked the knots and eased them.
Finally the song ended, and Ariel turned off the water. She found two towels, one in which she wrapped her hair to let it dry. The other went about her and she knotted it so that it would stay in place. Gathering her old clothes, Ariel left he bathroom and headed for the bedroom to check on James first.
She found him asleep. A smile spread across her lips, and she stepped around him so as not to wake him and went to her bag that he had brought into the bedroom. Within a few moments she had adorned appropriate sleeping attire, undergarments and a night dress that was long and touched her ankles. The straps were very thin and it was basic linen.
And then the towel came from her hair and she brushed the cloth through the wave of red strands. On the corner of the empty bed she sat, set to the task of finishing drying her damp hair.
