John blinked at the enthusiasm, and then reflected it. He didn't know why she'd never heard of a guitar before, but with all the strangeness around him it seemed fairly trivial, so he didn't question it too much.
"A guitar is a way for people to make music," he said, trying to think of how to best describe it. "And, no, not always. But Lily was a gift, and she's been with me for a long time. If any instrument had a life to it, it would be her."
"I'd fail miserably trying to describe it. But I could show you if you like," he nodded to the neon sign and offered his arm. "And if you like music you'll love the store."
