He didn't know where Dean was, if Dean was even here. Aidan understood Evey's look, he'd told her that he couldn't stay in die Festung because Dean hadn't given the permission. They were not, however, currently in die Festung, and hopefully would never be again. As much as he loved Dean, there was no dominion here. It wasn't Dean's city. If they ran into each other and his friend still needed time to heal, Aidan would give him space. Really, that's all he could do. As far as Aidan knew, this place was an island, it wasn't like he could hide himself in the walls of another settlement like he had in New Troy.
There was absolutely no chance to tell her as much, as she resumed the kiss much more passionately than he had previously offered. Aidan wasn't the type to shy away from public displays of affection, he never really cared what anybody else was thinking when it came to such things. When Evey bit him, though, Aidan laughed a little nervously and restrained her a bit. Biting was something that was ... well. It might get him started down a path that they weren't quite near enough to his apartment to finish.
To show that it wasn't that he hadn't enjoyed the enthusiasm, Aidan kissed her again.
"I was afraid of the same thing." He admitted. "Everything went to shit very fast. I was leaving New Troy with the last of the residents and this hole opened up in the ground. I fell down it with a few others. It had to be at least three miles deep. I don't even know how long I was down there, honestly, I lost consciousness for a while."
Aidan ran his fingertips against Evey's cheek, still a bit amazed that they were here, together. That they were both alive. They weren't in the hell of a dying planet. It was all so amazing, he wondered for a moment if he was dreaming. If this was the hallucination of a man dying. Maybe he was still in that fissure. Giselle had really been a figment of his imagination after all, one too many Disney movies in his life. He'd built off of the time he'd been in the City before.
If it was true, if he was dreaming his last dream, Aidan hoped he never fully woke up again. He hoped that he passed while in this fantasy. He didn't want the bodies around him to be the last things he was aware of.
Something told him, though, that this was all real.
