"Yes, the City required your strength as well as the local God's to bolster its..." The crone looked up from what she was reading to see that the sun had indeed done some damage. She didn't move from where she sat on the floor, books surrounding her. Each one open to some spot, each waiting to be read.
"Immunity." She didn't move right away. She just watched him, her Viking king. Her head tilted as she took him in. "It altered time I believe. Not simply by taking people from other times, but here. It has made changes, but I do not understand why. And, I believe there are duplicates, and that has only happened one other time. There is possibly chaos that the City once again did not anticipate."
She slid the book off her lap and stood. She wore her usual sundress, but within the walls of her home, she liked to feel the changing textures of tile, stone, woven fabrics beneath her bare feet. There were times she felt the same about the grass and the dirt, but asphalt and concrete were not for her. Though she'd walked quite a few miles in no shoes before. She'd walks just as many in boots, hers and others. She walked slowly toward him.
"Do you feel as if you have not fed properly in a while? Do you feel as if you are less than what you were before? Burning aside." They'd addressed that already. "I do wonder what the City took from you."
