Selina lifted her chin from her hands and offered Bruce a strange look. She opened her mouth to say something, perhaps to ask him if he was alright. If he needed anything. But before she could she was met with his confession.
I miss you.
She believed him because he had stolen the words right out of her mouth. From the moment she had found herself stranded in a tree with raptors at the bottom, she knew she would never see him again. She had made herself survive, move on, without him. And now here he was.
Selina felt like she wanted to cry. But she didn't.
Instead she got up and moved her chair.
The sound of the legs scraping the pavement was penance and when her chair was next to his she settled back down against it and tilted her head to rest it against the curve of his shoulder. Her eyes closed and she sat there against him. "I've missed you too. Badly." That was her own honesty peeking out at him. Usually everything was a game, a winding circle. But not this...this was straightforward. Direct.
And Selina always got what she was after. No matter how long it took.
