The coffee house was unexpectedly busy, Ted had never seen it so full. When he turned from the counter with his cup of coffee in his hand, he realized that there wasn't an empty table anywhere. Even the stools along the bar were all full. The only free seat at all, in fact, was across from a man who was reading the paper in front of what appeared to be a full tea service.
He was muttering something about a statue.
"I'm sorry." Ted said quietly. "This is a little odd, but there aren't any other open spots, would you mind if I shared your table?"
