Her eyes narrowed in disbelief, but Maleficent knew the pain of pride and the inability to admit pain and the truth. The need to keep that pride in tact, and to hold all emotions and secrets close to the chest. She would not out Evey or call her a liar.
"Yes. Perhaps it would be. But perhaps I will wait. A fairy is not made for city life, no matter what form that city might take. We are creatures of the wild, and this island suits me well enough."
She would not admit her own fear of the unknown, of what might be out there, and what she might face. Her power was great, little could overcome it, and she was bold, but she was also still fairly fresh from her hurt, she had just gotten used to the dinosaurs, and she had just met all of the people who lived in Evey's collective. She was not entirely ready to embark on a new adventure.
"Perhaps you should sleep, dear." Maleficent mused. "I can work up a spell to give you a few days rest without your mind spinning. Peaceful, dreamless sleep."
It was an offer she might not have made if Evey hadn't gone out of her way to arrange that dinner.
