Peter wasn't sure what was so unusual about being kind to someone. Nobody should ask for anything in return when kindness was the issue. But he supposed that not everyone was as giving as others. He was a hero, above all. He couldn't even begin asking for anything for himself when there were others that needed him more.
When Cas had snagged his gooey piece of the pie, Peter didn't hesitate to follow suit. He piled the slices on to his plate, leaving plenty for the other man, digging in as eagerly as Cas was.
The only time Peter paused was after Castiel spoke about not being a man. He looked up with the slice mid-way to his mouth, lowering the slice downward slowly. "So? Am I supposed to be afraid of you? I'm not exactly a man either, I guess."
