Peter rushed quickly down the sidewalk, almost tempted to stop at the window of the City Pizza and press his nose hard against the glass. He doubted the patrons at the booths would appreciate the sight of his nose squished up against the glass and the faint fog of his hard breathing clouding up their view. The thought of such a thing amused him, but Megan continued to flood back into his mind and so the hero stayed true to his course. She kept his feet moving.
Well, that was until someone stepped partially into his pathway, blocking the sidewalk. It was either stop and walk respectfully around, or slam into that person and keep going. Peter was too polite for his own good, even when he was fighting the bad guys. So the only option was to halt, which is what he did, and so abruptly that his sneaker bottoms skidded against the pavement.
"Yeah, of course! Why?" Peter then looked down at his bare arms, finding a small scrape here and there but nothing any more dire than minute misplaced patches of skin. As he lifted his gaze, Peter met eyes with the man and offered a charming smile, "Are you okay? Need a slice? Pizza place smells pretty awesome." This guy didn't seem like the 'zza type, but it seemed like a good way to break the ice.
