Peter's jaw dropped open as his hand clutched the paper cup. The scent was intoxicating. Utterly intoxicating. Coffee. Real coffee. It had been his biggest vice, and the hardest thing to be without. The last time he'd had coffee.... he thought back, sorting through both sets of memories... had been after the gift from the City.
And then she gave him chocolate, and real food. Real food! After months - years - of mystery meat and dinosaur flesh, this was turkey!
Coffee in one hand, the other reaching between the chocolate and he sandwich, Peter leaned in and gave Evey a chaste, but no less adoring, kiss on the corner of her mouth. "I love you so much right now."
Telekinesis was handy. The hero (the sandwich, not the woman holding it) floated to the kitchen counter as Peter scooped up the chocolate. "Minai," he called to his orange-haired companion. "Evey brought you a treat." Oh, what a lovely treat it was.
To answer Evey's query, he simply sent back, Long story. Let me try and sort through things for a moment before I lay it on you. It was going to be confusing enough to sort out for himself.
