Pepper glanced around, looking like she might actually be considering how plausible it would be for any of her neighbors to see the scene that was about to come out of all of this and if she actually could manage to keep Tony out of her house...but a scowl quickly flickered its way over her features. Yes, the buildings were close enough for anyone that had the slightest bit of curiosity to peer out and see (and probably hear) what was going on. Despite everything, Pepper had never been the kind of girl that liked to air her dirty laundry out in public...and she knew that Tony would have absolutely no qualms about doing just that for her either.
"Fine," she ground out between clenched teeth, absolutely loathing it when she had to actually back down to the man! With that same cold glare in his direction, she stepped aside and allowed him to come into her little flat.
As soon as he was inside, she slid the door shut behind him and out of habit locked the dead bolt. She'd spent most of her life living in an apartment by herself, so it was always just a matter of taking precautions. Besides, there were rumors that there was some kind of a serial killer on the loose.
"Talk quickly, Stark, I have alot of work that I'm trying to get done," she spoke quickly as she walked past him, only just now remembering that she was wearing nothing but some simple lounge wear. Oh, how she longed for the intimidating height of her stilettos and her no-nonsense french twist. Reaching down, she closed the book she'd had open from off the couch and tossed it onto her coffee table to sit with the rest as she flopped into the thick cushions.
