Pepper reached up one of her hands and quickly braced it against the doorframe, looking as though she were afraid he might just try to barge his way in if she didn't bodily throw herself in front of him. But then...this was Tony Stark. There was a good possibility he might actually try to shoulder his way in.
"No, Mr. Stark, you can't," she cut him off quickly. "This is my house now. I found it. Or rather...I found a key to it...on the sidewalk. It had this address on it and...well, there was this card here that said 'welcome home' or something...but I don't know who left it...I guess I probably should have figured that out before--."
Damn it. She was babbling. Why the hell did this man always make her do that?
Clenching her jaw shut tight, she closed her eyes tightly for a moment.
