Jo set money on the bar as soon as the bartenders brought their drinks. Tip included, of course. She'd tended bar long enough that she couldn't be anything but a generous tipper. She knew what it was like on the other side of the counter. If there were more rounds, the two of them could maybe squabble over who would buy or maybe she'd just keep buying rounds. As far as she was concerned, someone saving her life was worth as many drinks as he wanted.
"So how are you coping with it? This place tends to be kind of upside down." She shrugged. "Though it seems like you're doing better than I am. I spent the first couple of months convinced that this was some sort of cracked afterlife."
She'd gotten past that. Mostly. She was pretty convinced that they were all among the living these days, but she wasn't going to count anything out.
