"Moma, momma, momma!" Timmy said, rushing out of a room, hugging his mother. Effie fought, hard not to shudder at the robot's touch, reaching out a hand and hesitantly patting the top of his head. "Why don't you say hi to you father while I put this away," she bit out.
"Kay!" he zoomed off, cheering for his father while Effie went into the kitchen, leaning against the counter, trying to control her reactions to Timmy.
It wasn't that she was trying to shove him away, under everything she did still love him, but it was hard to adjust, hard to accept that her son now looked like something out of a nightmare rather than the sweet boy she had asked for...or the robot she had designed.
