Oh this scene was lovely, was it not? They had been here before, both of them. He standing before her. She extending her kindness only to have it shattered. But things were different now. The game had changed, and Eddie wasn't there to drag the young woman away at gunpoint. He had simply replied to the invitation and thus was standing on her doorstep when she answered his knock. The change in her smile didn't surprise him at all, considering their history.
When she had spoken, Eddie bent his naturally tall frame into a small bow and then rose up to look down at her, "I thank you for the invitation. It was quite kind of you," Edward began, before following her gaze to the vacant space beyond his shoulder. The gangster sighed and glanced over at his hostess once more, "As you cam see my...partner shall not be attending your gathering this evening. Though I'm sure it wasn't for a lack of want."
Ushered inside and prompted by the flute of champagne, Eddie beamed and held up the glass, "Ohh, bubbly!" He hadnt had a drink since his accident, so the liquid was welcome. And upon seeing the odd looking, much shorter and somehow yet larger creature on the couch Edward offered his best, most fake smile and nodded, "Hello there," Eddie breathed, only earning a grunt in reply.
Edward found a seat some place further from the weird man on the couch and settled in, making sure his cane was nearby for his need when it came.
