"Yes, one of your jackets. You don't have to have something flashy if you don't want it."
She knew that her current-uniform, to use his word-was more flash than substance. She also could understand why someone who hadn't grown up around superheroes like she had would want something more low-key. She didn't much care what his gear looked like, so long as he had something protective if he was going to patrol with her. And yes, she realized the irony in her wanting that, considering that her previous outfit hadn't provided all that much protection.
Her smiled widened and he didn't have to ask twice. She placed a gentle kiss on his jaw and then rested her head on his shoulder, slinging an arm across his chest.
"I love you too. And never? Really?"
She knew that he hadn't stuck around much. But it wasn't like she was the first serious relationship he'd had. All the same, it was sweet to realize just how much they'd already started to meet each other in the middle.
"We'll find a way." She sounded a lot more confident as she gave him a gentle squeeze and curled in closer.
Sure, they'd had a similar fight before. But it seemed like each time they fought, they started to figure things out a bit more. They worked through things and got closer. This fight felt like it had the potential to do that as well.
