Wash's eyebrows rose at her information about the animal turning. He had, of course, heard about the duck incident. Laughing was probably not the best response for teaching Maxine not to turn people into animals.
What he really wanted to say was that there was no problem. All things considered and all of the discombobulation that the City had served into their own lives should give them the right to discombobulate anything they wanted, within reason. But he knew that, for some reason, that was not the right answer. Thus, he was stumped.
"What kind of dog?" he asked, non-sequitur and with an air of amused curiosity.
