Abe, for his part, listened to her. He did feel her anger, then, now that he was informed of it. Most emotions by others were shifted to the background of his consciousness. But now the small vampire's true anger had his attention. His back straightened reflexively.
"You might be surprised at the things I've heard," Abe then replied softly. "Let it be known that supernatural creatures have the same life doubts as mortals. "But, really, I have no desire to end your existence," he said.
