Dinah knew who this apartment had belonged to and she understood both why Fred might have lingered after he was gone and why Fred would want to get her own place. Personally, she felt a little safer knowing that her friend was in a place that seemed nice enough to warrant security. It wasn't that Fred was weak, but she was in the midst of a lot of things that could come looking for trouble and it was good knowing that there was at least some barrier between Fred and the bad guys out there.
She shrugged.
"I want to hit something. And I want to know that they're all right. I'm sorry that you haven't been able to find a way to talk to Annie."
She didn't know how that would work anyway but if it was possible, she was sure that Fred would have found a way.
"So, do you want waffles or ice cream?" she asked. "Or both?"
She figured that she could bring up what she needed help with over the food, unless Fred asked about it first.
