"Yeah, I was afraid you'd say that." Dean's jaw tightened for a moment; he didn't like not knowing. Things were not pretty, and Fred seemed the kind to do very well at hiding whether or not things were bad. At least, he didn't have to worry about her losing her head over things, but it meant that he couldn't always tell just how bad shit was getting.
He waited until she was close enough before he wrapped his arm around Dinah and held her closer. This was exactly how he liked to drive, even if he was dealing with some major issues at the moment. His body stiffened at the question, unsure of where this might lead.
"I..." His brows furrowed. "Sometimes. I like being on the move. I like feeling like I'm serving some purpose, but this is good. You? Do you miss it?" He knew Dinah did. She had a different sort of ties and heroism there. Not that he'd ever say he was the same - he'd probably never call himself a hero.
