It had been nearly twenty-four hours since they'd first arrived in this strange City...and Pepper Potts found herself no where closer to discovering where they were then when she'd first begun.
The entirety of the day yesterday had been spent exploring this new realm from the passenger seat of Tony's prized Audi. They'd seen some very interesting sights...a few creatively designed buildings...a drive-up movie theatre...a museum advertising various "up and coming" artists...but nothing that gave them even the first hint as to where they might be. She was at least relieved to find that everything seemed to be in English. Though she knew enough French and Spanish to get her by, her Asian languages were a bit more fuzzy...and the very last thing she needed was for Tony to cause some kind of international faux-pas that would land them both into trouble.
But it didn't seem to be a foreign place. No...it actually all seemed very homey and comfortable. She caught herself wondering several times throughout the day if perhaps she'd died in her sleep somehow and gone to heaven.
...but then one look at the man that sat at her side and she knew that couldn't be the case, since he was here.
Limbo, perhaps? Purgatory?
Whatever the case, she was a woman that demanded answers and order...and so as soon as they arrived back at home, she'd set herself away in her office to try and work on the problem.
After all, it seemed that as long as she was here, there wasn't any business matters of Stark Industries to be worried about...and it was difficult for someone like her to just sit about and twiddle her thumbs all day.
The sound of her name being called was what brought her out of her deep readings as she leaned back away from her computer.
"Tony? I'm in here."
She'd sent Tony away several hours ago to see about procuring them some groceries and whatever essentials they might need - though actually it had just been an excuse to get him out of her hair for a bit so she could focus.
Standing up with a languid stretch that had her backbones giving a soft popping sound, Pepper clicked her way around her desk to go see what Tony was yelling for her about.
"Jarvis, please save the opened windows. I'll be right back."
"Of course, Miss Potts."
Stepping out into the living room area, Pepper looked around to try and see where her employer had been calling her from. She opened her mouth to call out to him again...but then saw him round the corner with a large, devilish grin on his face.
...and the tiniest kitten in his hands.
Pepper stopped short and stared at the white ball of fuzz, her expression at once blank and surprised at the same time.
