"Well, fiction's hardly reality," she said, shrugging. "Besides, I wanted to hear it from the source. Hey, can I see your fangs?"
She listened more seriously as he spoke. Despite what her behavior and profession might suggest, she had been raised Catholic and was still devoutly religious in her own way. Religion was how many people coped with life after the Rising, her own parents included, and she'd found comfort in it as well."
She nodded thoughtfully. "That's a way to think of it. We had all sorts of weird theological questions after the Rising, you know? The Vatican had to give the okay on what to do with zombies and whether or not they still had souls and the ethics of disposing of them. That was what Vatican III ended up being mostly about. My parents said that for a while right at the beginning there was this group that spun out from some of the more militant pro-life groups that tried to insist that you could keep zombies around while the government cured it. Needless to say, that didn't turn out well." She chuckled, then sobered again. "So with all those questions, and being raised Catholic, I have something of an interest. " She squeezed his arm. "Hey, if you ever get a chance to talk with heavenly figures again, could you ask them about that?"
