He'd put too much on her. She needed to be aware of those out there who would hurt her, but being kidnapped had been more than an object lesson and anything more than that now would only darken the brightness of her spirit. Errol wanted no part of that.
Instead, he tried to lighten the mood. "Right now, I'm going to make us dinner," he said, tugging slightly at her hands to lead her to the sofa in the living room. "And then when it's safe, I'll walk you home. We'll figure things out from there." His mind would be working in overdrive, he was certain. But she didn't need to know that.
"I don't have a television, but feel free to put on some music, if you'd like," he said. "And of course, I have some books."
