Errol nodded once, told the driver an address a few blocks over, and gave Beauty a sheepish look. "Just in case," he told her, knowing full well that she knew that the address he gave wasn't his apartment.
He sat in silence for the duration of the ride, looking for all the world like he sat looking out the window, though his eyes flicked from the car's mirrors to Beauty at the corner of his vision. When they arrived, Errol hurried to let himself out of the car first to check the surrounding area, and he motioned for Beauty to exit through the already-opened door. Once they were out, he started walking them on a slightly circuitous path back to his home.
Now that he'd had some time to calm down, he was able to ask the most important question on his mind in a much, much calmer manner than he had initially wanted to. "What in the world were you thinking?" he asked quietly.
