"Ew! I don't want to be less gross! You're going to ruin me! My grossness is all I have left!" he replied slack-jaw.
"Yeah, sure," Wash said to Bruce. "Apparently that's a fad, the organic thing. And here I thought it was just chemistry..."
He trailed off watching Maxine with a frown. He obviously didn't see the Red and though he knew of Bruce's Hulk-y nature couldn't console what he couldn't see.
"Méiméi, I need to show Bruce around. Here," he said and shed her backpack easily, "homework later."
He picked her up and held her by his side. Even when Maxine pulled on his hand Wash hadn't 'gotten' it.
"Ni zen me le?" he asked in Maxine's ear, discretely.
"Okay, Bruce. We were going to the bridge, right? The bridge! Maxine knows all about the bridge! She can show you how much smarter she is than me. She likes to rub it in my face. She's viscous, this one! It's adorable right now but just wait until her first boyfriend! I'm not picking up the pieces. How's Timmy, by the way?" Wash said, recalling him after meeting him during their waffle venture. It was hard to forget Timmy.
