"We will." She nodded. Now that she knew there was a problem, she was determined to help fix it. She would do whatever it was in her literal power to do, and if that didn't work, she would use every resource available to her. Annie felt like between the two of them, her and Fred could get this all sorted.
"No, it's not any fun at all." Annie felt a kind of weird bonding moment with Fred. Both of them being kept in the sterile rooms against their wills, for their own good. She knew when it was that Fred must have been in the hospital, and though she was a bit guilty about not having visited, Annie was happy that Fred had been in the hospital, and not dead, like it had been thought.
"Thanks." Annie smiled at the tablet and at Fred. "Even if the only thing it could do was let me play solitare, that'd be a lot better than laying here and watching stupid daytime television. It's so horrible. I appreciate you letting me borrow it. I'm going to hide it so they don't know I have it. I'm not sure I'm supposed to have contact with the outside world at all. They won't let me have my cell phone, and there's no landline in here. But this will also be good if you have to get in touch with me fast."
She picked it up and slid it into the pillowcase of the second pillow near the top of the bed. "I'll be careful with it, I promise."
