Hannibal was not quite so sure that she was any more sane now than she had been the last time he'd seen her. He'd not yet determined if this was a psychological crack, or a true regression into a life that didn't include Enigma.
"You are somebody else." Hannibal didn't take it easy on her. Jonathan had said that he wanted to put a stop to whatever it was Edward had in mind. If Hannibal was going to break her, he couldn't ease her into anything. "You said that Effie was weak and boring. That she wasn't the real person. She was just a mask for a halfhearted attempt to conform to society's rules."
Hannibal looked at her finally. "How old are you, Effie?"
