Jesse watched Zoe move. She stalked back and forth like a big cat at the zoo. He felt like if he were to get anywhere near him, she'd strike out. Not because she was upset at him or didn't want him near, but just because she had to do something with herself, and he'd be right there.
"Yeah, I've been on it." Jesse nodded. "Wasn't like I sought the ship out, Zoe. There was a prayer, turned out to be Wash. I fixed the engine."
He hadn't thought she would care. In fact, he'd thought that Zoe would be happy to see the ship occupied and running again. Otherwise, he would have brought it up with her.
"It ain't like she's his kid, Zoe." Jesse had no idea if she wanted input, or if she wanted to just rant. He was taking a chance at making her more angry. "He's helpin a little gal who got dumped here without anyone to take care of her. You'd do the same. So would I. Is it worse for you cause she's on the ship, or is all the anger just cause he's takin care of somebody else?"
