Hannibal held up a hand, showing Erik that he need not go any further. What he was saying was understood. There had been a time when he'd had to learn to trust again as well. After the orphanage, Hannibal had nothing to give another person aside from violence.
"Worry not, Erik. I will not push you in the matter, nor will I bring it up again. You will need time, and I understand that. More than I think you could know. Perhaps one day, when it is more comfortable for you, we can swap the horror stories of our pasts. Now, however, I do believe that you have not only promised me a new ballet, but also a meal."
He smiled, returning to the easy comfort that he'd been in before he'd asked his question.
