"Okay," he said slowly. He had no idea what on this broken little rock she had to show him but it was distraction enough to tear him from his defenses.
He nodded at her admission. As long as she wasn't trying to pull him out. He threw her a sympathetic look, one that brought his blue eyes up to her brown ones on the screen and his eyebrows up in slight worry and concern. It was a look he gave her when he wanted her to be careful or not be sad.
"Yeah," he said, vowing to keep her as safe as he knew how. He looked down at his hands for a bit as she ended the conversation.
But he opened his mouth before he said goodbye remembering something.
"Wait. One more thing. River. Few months back I found her and she told me about some sort of trail she's going to. Don't know when it was or if it's happened. Seems she's in some trouble. Someone made her do something that...well...wasn't legal. She was manipulated. I haven't been able to get in touch with her but now that I know about this directory thing--she seems well enough otherwise but...something's not right. Just thought you'd like to know," Wash said.
