Jesse shook the hand warmly. He knew about Kaylee, but couldn't rightly recall if he'd actually met the girl or not. He'd seen so many faces come through the City, there was a chance he had, and just wasn't placing her.
"Don't worry about that. It's just gotta be the intent, not the language. Intent washes away all the barriers and lets me know who needs what at any given time."
It was strange to say, but true. Jesse had discovered that he didn't need the citizens of the City to speak what they wanted him for, as long as they had shown their desires in their prayers. He supposed that if he really wanted to, he could just go right inside people's heads and pluck out what it was that they needed most, and grant it before anything was even thought. But that was creepy.
"We'll see each other again, I'm sure." He thought about using the door, but decided it would just get prolonged, trying to find his way out of a place he didn't know. So he did the reverse of what he'd done at the start of all this, and vanished from Wash's company.
