Once inside, Jo lingered in the living room that was just off the entryway. She did look over at Lindsey and burst out laughing at the random statement.
"Okay. No basement trips. Got it," she agreed with a nod.
She fumbled with her phone, trying to get her clumsy fingers to work the internet to find a number for the City's cab company. She didn't remember this being quite this hard when she was more sober. She shook her head and laughed softly at herself.
Remembering Lindsey's earlier statement, she looked up, momentarily forgetting the epic hunt for a phone number.
"This isn't my style. Not at all. The City's just got a sense of humor. Gave me this after it took my bar-apartment and all-and smooshed it up with that damn vampire bar. Guess it realized that I couldn't very well sleep in a bar that half belonged to vampires."
Jo might seem fearless, but that didn't mean she was stupid. And sleeping was vulnerability, so she wasn't about to do that when there were predators nearby. Not even with the anti-violence spells in place.
