"Welp," he said, downing the drink in several healthy gulps, "they were plannin' it when I was there, but anything that was a big plan with a capital B, you got high up enough, you kinda knew what was going on. Like I said, I never knew it'd be her. It wasn't that far along when I left."
"Uhm. Back in the day, the planet was run by humungous demons. I mean... city block-sized things. And I ain't talkin' about dinosaurs. Called 'em the Old Ones. Loads of power. People built temples to them, worshipped them... and they made their way into religions and legends."
He slid his eyes to Jo's.
"They wanted to bring one back. Said they knew where it was, and the plan was to do all the research, find someone still up on the lore and the cult of it and then just bring the damn thing back."
