Veronica hugged him back, even if there was now going to be a lo mein noodle on the back of his neck.
She was careful not to poke him with chopsticks, too.
Veronica pulled back and patted the couch for him to sit. She went back to talking and eating. She hadn't realized she was so hungry.
"I read about it," she said. "I'm glad they have it here. It sounded like... like not everybody had that option." Veronica thought of the book she'd read, Interview with the Vampire. And Louis had eaten animals.
That Twilight crap, too. Animal blood.
She didn't say it, because it was a hell of a downer, but if Logan had contracted cancer or some other terminal disease, she'd have reacted the same way: she'd have researched first, then come to him. Veronica didn't like not knowing everything she could about something this important.
She'd read a lot about self-control, especially in those goddamn Twilight books. There was a lot about it in those. About Edward having to be remarkably controlled not to rip Bella up, or hurt her. And after talking to Bruce...
"I'm going to go right to the hard questions," she said. After a final mouthful of lo mein, she put the container down on the coffee table and turned to face Logan. "Is this... painful? Is sitting here and hearing blood in my veins making you want to open my neck up? Or is it just... mind over matter?"
