"Go on." He nodded, letting go of Fred finally. "You go do what you gotta do, sweetheart. You need me, you just call for me, got it? I'll be right there."
Jesse knew that now that Fred remembered him, she would know that he would be there if she needed him. He hoped that she was truly on her way to finding out everything else and putting herself back together.
"Don't you worry none about what's gone on here. I'll deal with it."
He wasn't sure yet how he'd deal with it, but he'd make sure that Fred didn't get tied up in it. She didn't need any more on her plate at the moment. Whatever way he went in the end, they'd never know that she had been around.
Playfully, he took her shoulder and turned her around, pointing her toward the door, and gave her a small pat on the rear to encourage her movement.
