Ted was glad to see Wash go to the girl and get her out of the glass. He shuffled the bigger bits into a pile with the toe of his shoe and quickly inspected Maxine's feet to make sure there was nothing she might find later in an unhappy moment.
"Don't be sorry, honey." Ted said softly, "It was an accident. Nobody is mad at you. We're all just glad you're not hurt."
He smiled up at Wash. "Ted." there was no offer to shake hands just yet. Wash had Maxine, and Ted was eying where all the glass might have landed.
"Jo?" He called over his shoulder. "Get duct tape as well. We'll want it for the really tiny bits."
