There was little else Wash could have said to hurt the Amazon, very little. She looked down at the stairs, counting again. What was there to say? Tell him to just give up? That wouldn't work. He wasn't the kind. Tell him it'd only cause more pain? That seemed like some sort of bad escape, even if it was true. Maybe it had been a good idea to keep distance after all.
"You'll find your way." Her voice was soft and sure. Perhaps a little rough with emotions she wasn't going to fully express. He had to know that he hit something somewhere in her with his words.
"You always do, and you'll find it here. Let's get you to your place. I should probably get home soon." She almost suggested having Jesse look in on him to make sure he was okay, but she didn't think that would do very well in the moment. Or ever. Any other time, she might have seen them as very good friends.
