"Jesse, right," he said. He licked his lips in sudden thought. If he could have he would have stopped to think, but Zoe seemed to have a zeal he didn't quite understand for rushing him up the stairs. She was the one that stopped at his apartment after all. Surely that meant that she had wanted to talk.
"Huh?" he said, going over her question in his head.
"Oh, I'm fine," he said, still mulling over his decision to the steps. He also let off his weight on her. He didn't need as much support as she was offering. His back hurt but he wasn't incapable.
He'd forgotten that Jesse and Zoe had been seeing each other so long. It'd been a long month. He hadn't been his best. Zoe couldn't have known about that, though. He didn't want her to. Well...maybe in the middle he'd wanted her to, but didn't have any way to get in contact with her. He doubted he would have contacted her anyway.
